On January 1, 2016 (and a little buzzed and wildly hopeful), I declared that I would finish a novel this year. Similar to my previous attempts, I lasted about four months before the dust started to collect on my notebooks and cobwebs formed on the creative side of my brain. Alas, the year isn’t over! National Novel Writing Month may be my salvation. Could it be yours, too?
If this write-a-novel-in-a-month thing is going to fly, I’m going to need a lot of encouragement and inspiration. So, I gathered my virtual troops. I’m adding them to my social media speed dial and I suggest you do the same.
Not only did she change my writing world by bringing me on the outline bandwagon with her book, Outlining Your Novel, she started a NaNoWriMo blog series that has already proven to be helpful. Follow her on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
I was lucky enough to be a part of Gabriela’s street team for her recent book launch of DIY MFA: Write with Focus, Read with Purpose and Build Your Community. It is packed with writing tips, exercises, and inspiration. I will tweet her crying with frustration at some point, I have no doubt. Keep up with her on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
Having the Executive Director of National Novel Writing Month in your Rolodex is probably a good idea. His insightful and often humorous take on the 30-day writing month will be very beneficial in November. Start by reading his recent NaNoWriMo Writer’s Digest interview. Give him a follow on Twitter and Facebook.
The author of Nail Your Novel has already provided you with an awesome NaNoWriMo resource kit. I’m fairly new to Roz and her work, but I’m hopeful she will be a great source of support. Follow her on Twitter and Facebook.
